War Memorial Project

28th February 2010: well its been a long time since the last update but at last we have a new memorial on the site - Kelso.

Welcome to the Scottish Borders War Memorial project.

The aim of this project is to photograph all the war memorials in the Scottish Borders, and put their pictures on line, complete with transcripts of the monument tablets. This is an ongoing task, and at present only a limited number of memorials are on the site, although more will be added in the near future. We are also adding multi map references for each site. Click on the multimap logo to see where each memorial is located within the Borders. There will also be a limited number of memorials from other areas that we have spotted whilst out and about on our holidays.

If you have any requests for specific memorials that you wish to see on the site sooner, please e-mail us and we will see what can be done. We think there are around 140 memorials around the Borders, so its going to be a long while before they are all up!

We wish this project to be more than a dry list of names, therefore if you have an obitory or family history  that you wish to see published please contact us and again we will see what can be done.

As we appreciate that getting to the Scottish Borders can be time consuming and expensive for many people, we will gladly email copies of the  original (higher resolution) pictures we have used for the site - just let us know which picture from which memorial(s) you are interested in and we will email them out as soon as possible.
